A gentle giant. I was so glad I got to have a conversation with him at the 50th. He was always a friend.

Jim came to see me about 2yrs after graduation on christmas break from UW and we went duck hunting- Jim had a great career with the Washington Huskies and in the pros!  The last time I saw Jim was when he opened his nightclub "The Huddle" in South Wenatchee.  A great  friend and he will be missed by all those who knew him!

Jim was Huge in many ways, especially his humor and friendlyness. I will never forget the time Jim and I squeezed and sneaked into the Wenatchee Drive in theater in the trunk of my parents 1948 Studebaker and our future wives were in the front seat. One big problem was that the Drive-In Attendent wouldn't leave them alone, thus Jim and I were stuck in the trunk. We were very close at that time. Say hi to my wife Karen who unfortunately passed away November 15, 2020.

What a loss for all - who will ever forget Jim playing Jud in Oklahoma?   Or is towering presence on the football field - with the Panthers, Huskies, Forty-Niners, and Falcons.   I remember when a group of us went down to St. Anthony's after class (in '61) to see Jim, Karen, and their newborn daughter.    It was good to see him and visit with him at reunions; and he will surely be missed at our next (60th?) reunion!    RIP Jim

Very good memories of Jim, like his role of Jud in Oklahoma. I also remember that during our senior year when the Panthers were introduced at the first home game, he was introduced (now a married man) as Mr. Jim Norton! I missed most of the former Panthers' action at UW because I was going to college in Chicago, but I know that Jim set kicking records at UW that lasted many years.

We were friends since grade school. I remember on many days after school getting on my bike and peddling up Okanogan Ave to Circle Drive where he lived. He grew up in humble surroundings and never lost that gracious sense of humility in spite of his size. Yes, gentle giant was his persona. We were all so proud of his athletic accomplishments in high school, at the UW and then professional football. He and Karen married early and lasted long. Precious. Jim got Patty her first job in Seattle through his employer. As we feel sad for the loss of a friend from childhood remember that legacy is not found what we leave behind. Legacy goes on before us in the lives of those we've had the privliege to know. RIP old friend.

So sorry to hear of his passing. Lots of memories of him : I used to get a ride from him to school in his white Chevy, we played trumpet in the band, of course football at Pioneer Jr high, WHS, U oW. Basketball at WHS. Lots of good memories. At the UW I still see him in his uniform with sweat and blood coming from his forehead when I would take his helmet off. Tough guy that never complain and always smiling. God bless him.
