We enjoyed making Rock and Roll.   Remembering all the practices at the Dorey home and the fun we had playing a few dances.   This experienced carried me on to working professionally in San Diego.

It was much fun.

Denny was one of the nicest guys you would ever meet.  Always enjoyed being around him.

One time, around or shortly after we graduated, Denny invited me to ride on his motorcycle.  I had never ridden on a motorcycle.  He told me to hold on tight, as he was going to show me how powerful it was.  He started out doing a "wheelie", and proceeded up Mission street like a bullet, with me yelling "SLOW DOWN, YOU TURKEY".   Denny had a GREAT time that day, and offered many times over the years, with a sly smile, to "give me a lift" anytime i wished.  I have never had any desire to ride a motorcycle since that day.

Denny was fun to be around.  One time we had a dance at the YMCA and had Dennys group play.  Trouble was they showed up about a 1/2 hour late so we started the dance with a record player.  Does not work in a basketball gym.

Denny was one of a kind.  I have many fond memories of our friendship over school years, most of which probably shouldn't be told even though the statute of limitations expired fifty years ago.  His love of contemporary music and ability to pull a band together was well known and appreciated.  We boxed together on several occasions, even in a couple of exhibitions, and although I was a bit faster he could hit much harder.  Getting hit by Denny wasn't a lot of fun.  The last conversation we had was a telephone call when he had questions about the political climate in the US about which he was quite concerned.  He was a fine man and I'm sure is missed by his family and all of us who had the privilege of knowing him.
